Recently I was in my car in an area I wasn’t familar with and I was looking for a hair salon.   I had no idea where to go or where to look and I certainly didn’t have a phone book in my car to help me out.  How many times have you found yourself in a similar situation?  Well fear no more …Google comes to the rescue!

Just text message your search query to 466453, or simply spell out “google” on most mobile phones, then type in what you are looking for with the zip code if possible,  for example “hair salon 28277″ and Google will return the top 3 results within 30-45 seconds or so via return text message.  You can even query current weather conditions, theater locations, stock quotes, definitions of words and more!  Try it!  This service is free from Google but charges for text message usage from your carrier may apply.

Leave it to Google to fill a technological need!  Cudos Google!
